Len Lye, Newzealander!

This work by Len Lye is a sculptural work as well as a spacial one as the tree-like sculpture is influenced by the forces and energies that act within the environment. It looks like a gallery space of some sort. I like this art work as it reminds me of a lamp i used to have. It looked exactly like this object in the middle of the room and whenever someone opened a door or some kind of wind entered the room, the bendy, cable-like sticks would move and weap in the wind. A force in the environment caused the movement.

'Wind Wand'

This sculpture made out of new age materials is designed to spend it's life outside exposed to wind and weather conditions, hence forces and energie. The red pole seems to be made out of a stable, rubber-like material that is able to move in the wind and resist against the energies. It almost reminds of a fishing rod but the end of the pole seems to be a plastic ball attached to the tip of the sculpture! The site of the work is quite exposed and open spaced. I like this work as it is ever changing and most probably never exactly stable, which i think adds a certain intruiging aspect to the work.

'Blade'
This photograph is a work called 'Blade'. It resumes it's name out of the action of the ball depicted in the photo or documentation of the event. The picture is quite blury indicating movement and energie acting upon th ball that actually is attached to some kind of wire.
The object is being forced through a limited space which is apparent through the black areas on the outside of the photograph. this work grabbed my attention as it depicts a fleeting moment of force in time, captured through photography.
